How To Clean Your Contigo Coffee Mug

It’s 2023 and the Contigo coffee mug is still the go-to choice for many avid coffee drinkers. Whether you’re looking for a way to keep your coffee hot during the morning commute, or just want a stylish mug to enjoy your favorite brew, Contigo coffee mugs have been a favorite for years. But like any coffee mug, these mugs will need to be cleaned regularly to keep them looking their best. Cleaning your Contigo coffee mug doesn’t have to be a difficult task, and can be done quickly and easily without any hassle. Here are some tips on how to clean your Contigo coffee mug.

Step 1: Empty The Mug

The first step in cleaning your Contigo coffee mug is to empty it of any remaining coffee, tea, or other beverage. If you have a lid on your mug, make sure to remove it and give it a thorough cleaning as well. If your mug has a sealable lid, make sure you open it and empty the mug of any liquid that may have been trapped inside. This is an important step to take before cleaning your mug as any remaining liquid can result in a bad smell and a longer cleaning time.

Step 2: Wash With Soap And Water

Once your mug is empty, the next step is to wash it with soap and water. If you have a dishwasher, this can be done in there, but for a deeper clean, hand washing is recommended. Make sure to use a mild soap, such as dish soap, and warm water to clean the inside and outside of the mug. Be sure to scrub the lid and any other parts of the mug as well. After washing, rinse the mug with clean warm water and dry it with a clean cloth.

Step 3: Remove Stains and Residue

Once the mug is washed and dried, it’s time to tackle any stains or residue that may remain. For tough stains, you can use a mixture of baking soda and water to scrub the area. This should be done gently, and only with a soft cloth or sponge, as the baking soda can scratch the surface of the mug. For any remaining residue, you can use a mixture of white vinegar and water. Apply the mixture to the mug and let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse off with warm water. This should take care of any stubborn stains or residue.

Step 4: Sanitize Your Mug

The last step in cleaning your Contigo coffee mug is to sanitize it. This can be done by using a solution of one part bleach to nine parts water. Soak the mug in this mixture for a few minutes, then rinse with warm water. This will help to kill any remaining germs and bacteria that may be lurking in your mug.

Tips For Keeping Your Mug Clean

In addition to regular cleaning, there are a few tips and tricks you can use to keep your Contigo coffee mug looking its best. First, make sure you always use a lid on your mug to help prevent spills and stains. If you’re using a sealable lid, make sure you always open it to let any trapped liquid out, and to keep the mug from becoming musty. Second, avoid using abrasive cleaning agents, such as steel wool, as they can scratch the surface of the mug. Finally, if possible, let your mug air dry after washing instead of using a cloth, as this will help to prevent staining and buildup.

Cleaning your Contigo coffee mug doesn’t have to be a difficult task, and with these tips you can keep your mug looking its best. So next time you’re enjoying your favorite brew, make sure you take the time to keep your mug clean and looking great.
